Kiddie Kollege Graduation

Well, we are the proud parents of an official Kiddie Kollege Graduate. Hannah had a good year singing, cutting, pasting, painting, sharing, playing, listening to stories, and of course eating snacks. Her favorite things at pre-school were "swinging", which she did every morning when I dropped her off, and "sitting quietly and listening" (yes, she's a teacher's dream).

During the ceremony, the teachers gave out "Possibility" awards, sharing what each child wants to be when they grow up. There were lots of doctors, firefighters, baseball players, and princesses, but Hannah was the only one who wanted to be a mommy. God is so good. By His grace, she'll be a great mommy someday.

Mommy's Little Helpers

The girls have been really helpful around the house lately (usually when they want to be as opposed to when I want them to be). Hey, I'll take what I can get. I am enjoying the extra help and it's been fun to watch them learn new things.

Enjoying Creation

This past weekend Rob, Hannah and I got to go on an AP Biology and Science club field trip to Yosemite. While the kids and chaperons hiked to the top of Yosemite Falls on Saturday, Hannah and I walked to the base of the lower falls, explored Yosemite Village and shared some ice cream. It was a great time to enjoy God's creation and spend some time just the two of us.

We camped Friday and Saturday nights right on the Merced River on an old gold mine claim. It was a fascinating place. Miner Bob was our most gracious host and storyteller. He has lived on the property with no electricity since 1945. We had the privilege of celebrating his 86th Birthday with him on Saturday. While he never "struck it rich" by gold mining standards, he was indeed a wealthy man, having lived his life in a beautiful place and in the grace of the Lord Jesus.

In Honor of our Mothers

"My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune." ~Graycie Harmon

"A mother's arms are made of tenderness and children sleep soundly in them." ~Victor Hugo

"I miss thee, my Mother! Thy image is still
The deepest impressed on my heart."
~Eliza Cook

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." ~Washington Irving

An Arranged Marriage

We are a little bit old fashioned around here and still believe in arranged marriages (well, at least semi-arranged). We have selected one young man for either Grace or Sarah (hey, we'll let him decide). Kyle is the cutest 3 year old boy we know and he got to spend the day with us today. He hasn't decided which girl he favors yet and waivers back and forth between the two. He seemed to be having a "Grace day" today. They were buddy-buddy all day and when it came time to take naps, they insisted on sleeping together in Grace's bed. Now, at first, I wasn't sure how I felt about that, but they were so dang cute, I just couldn't resist saying yes. Plus, it was a great opportunity to snap a couple pictures that I could torment them with when they decide that the opposite sex has cooties.

I think Grace is getting ready to throw her leg over him (like mother like daughter...just ask Rob)

I couldn't believe they actually quieted down and went to sleep. I really thought I would end up moving one of them, but decided to give it a try for the cuteness factor. I do believe it was worth it.
