The Adventures of Willie the Wonder Dog

This may be the first part in a multi-part series.  We'll have to see.

Today, was our first day back to school and our normal routines since Christmas vacation.  It was also our first day to leave Willie unattended for any length of time.  I still don't completely trust him in the house alone.  So, when I left to take the girls to school, I put him outside making sure to show him where his cozy bed, food and water were.  What more could a dog want?  Apparently the answer is "his master".

On my way home from picking Grace and Sarah up at pre-school today, I got a call from Rob asking if I was on my way home and saying that he was going to leave Willie inside.  "Ok" I said.  "Did you come home for lunch?"  "No, Willie showed up at school today and I am bringing him home.", he said.

What!?!  He explained that a student came in the office and said there was a dog sitting outside the door.  The student brought the dog in and he went straight to Rob's office.  The student apologized and explained that they were just trying to figure out who's dog it was because it had San Luis Obispo County tags on (that's where Willie is from).  Anyway, Rob told the student he knew who's dog it was because it was his.

It looks like Willie found the only place in our fence that does not have a concrete curb under it and dug his way out.  Of all the places Willie could go, he went straight to Rob's office.  Rob walks to work, so we both think Willie tracked him there.  Maybe we're giving him too much credit, but it seems like too much of a coincidence otherwise.  Like I said in my previous post, he is Rob's dog all the way.

The best part is that all of the office staff at the High School got to meet Mr. Cobb's new Wiener Dog.  I think it's hilarious.

It appears Willie has some blood hound in him. How far is the school from your house? Why did you guys end up with him? Was he not getting along with Saylor?
Little dogs rock!

Hi Kurt-
The school is just a couple blocks from our home...so not too far for a little dog to go. Kathy and John thought he would do better without the other dogs around. He is an attention hog and gets plenty of it when we are home. But, he's having trouble when we are gone. He chewed/clawed a hole in our fence boards today and got out. He was roaming the front yard when I got home...naughty dog :). I think I'll try leaving him inside next time and see how he does.

I love it! Reading your adventures will entertain us enough to put off getting our own dog for awhile...
