Happy Birthday Jerry

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Jerry's 17th Birthday.

He had a few friends over, Rob barbecued and I made a Tres Leches cake.

His sisters wrapped and decorated a special gift for Him.

Yes, that would be a box of 50 bags of Fire Hot Cheetos...the boy's addicted. I remind myself that he could be addicted to far worse things than pain inflicting snack food.

Jerry has been part of our family for almost 8 months now.  Life with a teenage boy has taken some getting used to.  A lot of the time, I feel like I am on a crazy roller coaster.  But, when I am not feeling worried, scared or sick, it's a pretty great ride!  I don't know what the future holds or how this whole thing will work out, but right now, I'm glad he's in the next room (texting his little heart out).

Happy Birthday Jerry.  We love you!

Gun Show

A gun show broke out in my kitchen recently...

I know who my vote is for biggest guns.  Anyone else want to weigh in on the debate?

This is what happens when your husband raids your 16 year old son's wardrobe...

It's just wrong on so many levels!

Watch Out Rocky, Here Comes Jerry!

Jerry has been learning to box at the local Sheriff's Activity League.  He really likes it and is so proud of his accomplishments.  Last month the SAL had an open house where we could go tour the facility and watch him spar with his coach.  It was really fun to see what he has been working so hard on.

We're a Family of 6!

About a month ago, we went from being a family 5 to a family of 6.  The newest member of our family is a 16 year old high school student named Jerry.  He's a great kid and we love him a lot.

We've been learning lots of new things from each other.  For example...

Sarah is learning to box and...

Jerry is learning to play in the ocean.

Jerry is a gift to our family and we are so thankful that God made a home for him here with us.  It is our prayer that Jerry will continue to pursue a home for his heart with Jesus.
"Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds - his name is the Lord - and rejoice before him.  A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling."  (Psalm 68:4-5)
