Hey...Take a Hike Man!

OK...Don't mind if we do.

Last Sunday we went on a hike with the Outdoor Adventure Club from the High School.

We hiked to the top of the Needles Fire Lookout.  You can't see it in this photo because it's hidden behind the tree on the left at the very top of that rock.

Here the girls are at the top waiting to go up the last few steps for a breathtaking 360 degree view.

There were about 40 high school students who went including this guy...

Being the chivalrous dude he is, he was sure to help all the single girls scramble down from rocks...hey, this hiking thing is kind of fun!

These little studettes and the big one in the background made it the whole way...about 5 miles in all.

Well...almost the whole way.  Daddy pitched in with a couple brief shoulder rides towards the very end.
It was a beautiful day!

Hiking with my Honey

A couple weekends ago Rob and I got to go on a day hike with the Outdoor Adventure Club. We left the girls with a babysitter and enjoyed a day of outdoor activity and beautiful scenery.

Morro Bay

Last weekend we camped with the High School's Outdoor Adventure Club at Morro Bay State Park. It was a great weekend. Here are a few pictures.

Skipping logs in flip flops is not recommended. This is just before she fell, scraped her leg and cried for an hour. Isn't she cute though?

Sarah and me paddling on the Bay.

I think those turkeys are trying to splash us.

Playing on the sand dunes across the Bay.

Hanging out on the rocks while Daddy and the students look for sea creatures in the tide pools.

The next day, we went to the beach and Rob took a couple students out for a surfing lesson. He didn't tell them, but he saw his first shark (a little 2 foot Leopard Shark) while he was out. He was pretty excited.

We ended our trip with a visit to the Elephant Seals. It was a great time of year to see them. The females just had their pups, so there were lots of babies and even a couple showdowns between the males.

Snow - well almost!

This weekend we paid a visit to Papa Mike and Grandma Kris up in the foothills. It doesn't snow very much there, but if you time it just right, there's enough to have some fun in. We made it just in time to enjoy the last few sparse patches from the last storm and we left just hours before the rain turned back in to snow. Darn! We'll try to time it better next time. The girls didn't care though. They were thrilled just to see snow, get to throw a couple snowballs and make a baby snowman. As always, we had a great time at Papa Mike and Grandma Kris's house. Thanks guys!

January or June?

The weather has been so nice lately the girls jumped on the Abshire trampoline in swim attire yesterday. We are enjoying the warm January sunshine.
